Our purpose

Agriculture at the heart of Pakistan

Agriculture feeds the country, employs a large share of its workforce and underpins the rural economy. The department exists to put reliable guidance, practical support and public programmes within reach of every farmer.

  • Food security. Steady production of wheat, rice and other staples across both cropping seasons.
  • Farmers first. Advisory, input support and training delivered through district offices and field staff.
  • Rural economies. Stronger value chains from the field to the market, and fewer losses along the way.
  • Sustainable innovation. Water-efficient irrigation, certified seed and climate-resilient practice.

Current advisories

Agricultural alerts

Field advisories issued to growers. Sample notices shown for this demonstration concept.

Crop advisory

Monitor wheat fields for early pest activity

Wheat growers are advised to monitor fields for early signs of aphid and termite activity, particularly on late-sown crops. Scout weekly and treat only where the economic threshold is crossed.

Weather advisory

Rain expected across central districts

Rainfall is forecast across central cropping districts over the coming week. Growers should postpone foliar sprays and irrigation until conditions settle to avoid runoff and wash-off.

Water management

Plan the pre-sowing irrigation early this season

Canal rotation schedules are being issued for the coming Rabi season. Plan the pre-sowing (rauni) irrigation against your rotation turn rather than the calendar.

Orchard advisory

Cover date bunches before the monsoon
