Food Security
Reliable production of wheat, rice and other staples across both cropping seasons, and the storage to hold it.
A department built around the field: the soil, the season, and the people who work it.
Our mission
Agriculture is the largest employer in the country and the foundation of its food supply. The department exists to make sure that a grower in any district can get accurate, timely, locally-relevant advice — and can find the public support they are entitled to without navigating a maze to do it.
That means three things in practice: extension officers who are physically present in the field, guidance written for Pakistani conditions rather than borrowed from elsewhere, and programmes whose eligibility rules are stated plainly enough to check in a minute.

Our priorities
What the department is organised to deliver, and what its programmes are measured against.
Reliable production of wheat, rice and other staples across both cropping seasons, and the storage to hold it.
A better return per acre through lower input waste, stronger market linkage and fewer post-harvest losses.
Soil organic matter, balanced nutrition and practices that leave the land in better condition than they found it.
More crop per drop — levelling, scheduling and the shift from flood to pressurised irrigation.
Heat-tolerant varieties, shifted sowing windows and protected cultivation for a less predictable climate.
Certified seed, mechanisation and precision tools applied where they measurably pay.
From the canal command areas of Punjab and Sindh to the terraced valleys of the north, almost every productive acre depends on water arriving at the right time.

Director
