Training & extension
Learning that happens in the field
Extension is the department’s main instrument. Most of it happens standing in a crop, not in a classroom.
Farmer field schools
A season-long, hands-on course run on a demonstration plot in your own district. Growers meet through the crop cycle and make decisions on a real field.
Extension visits
District field officers visit holdings on request to diagnose problems in situ — a pest outbreak, a nutrient deficiency, a drainage failure.
Digital learning
Written guides, illustrated identification keys and recorded sessions, available to download from the resource library at any time.

Monitor wheat fields for early pest activity
Wheat growers are advised to monitor fields for early signs of aphid and termite activity, particularly on late-sown crops. Scout weekly and treat only where the economic threshold is crossed.
